The Story
Italian brand Calabrese 1924 is of the school of thought that a necktie should be as soft and decadent as a foulard – a technique that requires acute skill and flair in the craft of tiemaking. The house was founded in 1924 by Don Eugenio Calabrese, a well-known eccentric dresser, and quickly became renowned for this hand-crafted method, creating extravagant pieces from fine silk, cotton and wool. Having been passed down through the family, and now at the hands of Eugenio’s granddaughter Annalisa, Calabrese 1924 still champions the methods of hand-cutting, stitching and rolling, which are done by artisans in a small factory in Naples. As well as creating ties, Calabrese 1924 has expanded its offering into pocket squares, scarves and swimming trunks, all with the same hand-crafted standards.
