The Story
Historically, Charvet has provided bespoke shirts and accessories to princes, royals and heads of state and has earned itself an exceedingly prestigious reputation. Identified as the world’s first ever shirt shop, founded in 1838 by Christofle Charvet, and thanks to its global renown, to this day ties rendered in a certain type of silk fabric are given the name ‘charvet’. The term ‘chemiser’ or ‘shirtmaker’ was coined from Charvet himself and derived from the development of a bespoke, on-site service that worked in unison with the instrumental change in men’s fashions that put more importance on the waistcoat and shirt collars. As the only remaining shirtmaker on Place Vendôme, the company strives to provide an entirely personable service that goes far beyond the luxury label.
