The Story
Founder, David Barton, concocted the idea for David Kind after feeling frustrated and creatively challenged that cost-constraints hindered the development and production of the frame designs he truly wanted to produce. He took this frustration and instead, after working for large optical companies, branched out on his own, where ‘constraints’ wasn’t a word typically used in the workshop. Working on a smaller scale also meant that each product could be specifically fine-tuned to the consumers needs, resulting in creating a high-quality, unique product. Attention to detail is imperative, so the specialised factories in Japan and Italy are populated with masters of the trade handling scratch resistant Italian mineral glass lenses inside hand-finished acetate frames, rendering each pair of glasses completely perfect.
