In the white-hot world of integrated sports watches, the Girard-Perregaux Laureato is an under-the-radar contender, despite having a history that dates back to 1975. But the Laureato’s star is rapidly rising, thanks in no small part to the modern, almost aggressive sports sensibilities of amped-up Absolute, a line launched in 2019. This brings us to the Girard-Perregaux Laureato Absolute Gold Fever. What defines the design of this 44mm watch is the targeted use of pink gold, resulting in a design full of dynamic tension. The case is blacked-out titanium, while the multi-level sandwich dial reveals pink gold on the hands, the logo, the hour markers and the chronograph registers. It’s impressive how Girard-Perregaux has made a comparatively small amount of gold so far, as the overall effect is one of over-the-top opulence. On top of that, this watch is powered by the automatic GP03300, with 46 hours of power reserve. Another outstanding feature is the strap, which is rubber injected with 18K pink gold, making this fusion of FKM (fluoro-elastomer) rubber and pink gold a proprietary wold premiere. Limited to 188 pieces, this modern take on the luxury sports watch is comfortable with any activities, from social to sporting and anything in-between.
