Hamilton has a rich history when it comes to field watches. In 1942, shortly after America joined World War Two, the Pennsylvania-based brand ceased all consumer-focused production to focus on the needs of the armed forces. Throughout the war, Hamilton delivered over one million timepieces to the Armed Forces. But it was another war and another watch that served as the inspiration for the Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical 38mm — a watch made for the conflict in Vietnam. From 1964 Hamilton made a simple, robust 33mm time-only watch with a clear dial layout and notable 24-hour inner scale. The appeal of this field watch transferred into civilian life as well, and the icon that is the Hamilton Khaki Field was born. This latest version is inspired by the past, but looks to the future. The warm tones of the bronze case fits in with the nostalgic aesthetic of the dial design, with luminous triangles on the hour, both 12 and 24-hour time scales, and hash marks for the minutes. The nickeled hands are also luminous, with matching beige Super-Luminova. The crystal, unlike its wartime ancestors, is virtually scratch-proof sapphire, and the movement is the unique H-50, a hand-wound mechanical with a solid 80 hours (or three-and-a-bit days) of power reserve.
Available exclusively on Revolution from 21st June 2021, for a limited period only.
