The Story
With more than three centuries’ experience, Lock & Co. is an indisputable master of hats – from casual fedoras to smart toppers. As a resident of London’s St James St since 1676, and as hatters of the highest standard, the family-owned business has been of service to both local and international elite. That brings with it impressive anecdotes, too: Lock & Co. was the choice of Winston Churchill and Oscar Wilde; Lord Nelson sported a bicorne during the Battle of Trafalgar; and Edward Coke commissioned rounded, protective hats for his gamekeepers, thus the creation of the bowler. Using luxurious felt made from rabbit, mink or beaver fur, as well as delicate silk for linings, Lock & Co.'s classic and modern styles are as elegant as they come.
