    Perfectly capturing the spirit of the roaring 20s, these sunglasses by Oliver Goldsmith have been handmade in Italy. Suiting faces of all sizes, they feature ceramic nose-pads, a leather brow bar and temple tip, and leather side cups inspired by the automotive industry. Utilising only the finest materials, the lenses have been rendered in a high-gloss organic mineral glass, lending the frame weight and authenticity.

The Story

The Icons collection by heritage British eyewear brand Oliver Goldsmith is a selection of repurposed sunglasses and spectacles from its magnificent archives, dating from the late 50s through to the late 80s. Claire Goldsmith, the great-granddaughter of the brand’s eponymous founder insists that she had to keep to the originals when she relaunched the brand in 2006, many of which have been adorned by some of the greatest film stars to have ever lived, and sees herself as “a guardian of the past. Founded in 1926, Oliver Goldsmith was the first person to realise the potential that a medical device could also work as a fashion statement, and injected his own aesthetic into the device. Defining the term ‘pioneer’, Goldsmith utilised acetate as an eyewear material and went on to design sunglasses and spectacles which have become synonymous with style, fashion and celebrity culture, with the likes of Michael Caine, Audrey Hepburn, Hardy Amies and Peter Sellers, to name a few, all ardent fans of the British brand. As modern and relevant now as they were 60 years ago, Oliver Goldsmith’s heritage is unprecedented in the world of luxury eyewear.
