Omega Speedmaster ref. 145.022-69 "220"

- Product Notes
The Reference 145.022 marks a significant point of evolution for the Speedmaster with the introduction of the Caliber 861, the cam-switched chronograph movement that progressively replaced the revered column wheel Calibre 321. While there are variants within the 145.022, what you're looking is the Pre-Moon 145.022-69 "220". Its particular identifying features being the stepped dial with the painted white logo, the DNN bezel without the accented "e" in the word TACHYMETRE and the number 220 appear on the scale instead of the typical 200, and lastly, the Pre-Moon type caseback.
The Pre-Moon 145.022-69 "220" sits right between the preceding transitional reference 145.022-68 and the succeeding reference Post-Moon 145.022-69. The watch was in production for a relatively brief period from 1969 to 1971.For any questions and styling advice, please contact us at: shop@therakemagazine.com.

The Story
If the fact that the RAF chose Omega watches as the timekeepers for its combat units in 1917, or that an Omega was the first watch on the moon in 1969 is not ample evidence of Omega's quality and reliability, you need only try on one of their models to get a fitting sense of how well crafted these watches are. A quick glance at some of the men whose wrists have sported an Omega watch might also help: this Swiss brand has counted Prince William, JFK and James Bond among its customers.
