Upon questioning the functionality of men’s clothing, Johan Oscar Jacobson began to create garments for the workers of his hometown of Borås, Sweden. Originally starting the business with his aunt’s husband, he registered Oscar Jacobsen as a brand in 1903. The firm sold both fabric and sewn articles: overalls, work trousers and shirts. Several years later in 1908, the business, by then run by Jacobsen and his brother, was revolutionary in its launch of ready-to-wear men’s clothing in set sizes. Resulting in lower production prices, this proved to be a great success, but even so Jacobsen never ceased his search of improving his wares, be it optimising the manufacturing process or searching for cloth of even higher quality. Today, Oscar Jacobsen continues to deliver an extensive range of men’s clothing of the highest quality cut, cloth and fit.
