7 belted jackets your wardrobe will thank you for
Part blazer, part overcoat, part robe, the belted jacket is an autumnal dream as far as I'm concerned, precisely because no other jacket is quite as versatile and so easily wearable. It has all the structure of a blazer or great overcoat but the belt - replete with option to tie or not to tie - lends it a certain louche quality. There's also the very pragmatic advantage of the belted jacket - it creates a waistline even where one didn't previously exist, thus helping to visually broaden your shoulders, which is never a bad thing! On the aforementioned plus point of versatility, today's belted iterations are quite the diverse tribe, from safari jackets and field jackets to classic trench coats and everything in between. For this autumn, I'll be looking for chunky wool styles in a full cut that I can just wear with a plain tee, pleated trousers and loafers on warmer days, but London being the drizzly mess that it is, a waxed field coat is always close to hand too. I've selected seven of my favourite styles currently in The Rake's possession that I think will uplift any man's wardrobe this coming season.
