Although I have been a bespoke aficionado for almost three decades, I do like RTW clothes that have a hand-tailored feel, that are classic but also have a certain twist. I am constantly traveling so my clothes need be well-made, ready to take a beating, but also versatile in style so they can be combined with each other and still always look sharp. Below you'll find some of my favourite pieces currently on TheRake.com, selected for their craftsmanship, versatility and timelessness.

 

One can never have enough blazers and this one from Edward Sexton is extremely well cut in the typical Sexton house style and spectacular value for money. I love unstructured sport coats in neutral colours - they are very versatile and make perfect travel companions. Belted safari jackets are one of my eternal favourites and this one reminds me of an old army dispatch rider jacket. Duffle coats are great, less formal alternatives to normal overcoats and this one in camel has an added luxurious touch. I usually only wear bespoke trousers but these ones, without belt loops and with side adjusters, in a lovely cotton cashmere corduroy, have a custom feel. For me, 100hands makes some of the world’s best shirts with an insane amount of hand work involved, and this one in Japanese Selvedge Chambray combines a formal cut with a more casual fabric. I have loved Tod’s since I spent my summer holidays as a kid in Tuscany; I usually always travel with a pair of Tod’s. This hand-patinated pair is rather dressy but can double also as house shoe on longer travels when luggage space is ultra scarce. I love tote bags and use them to carry everything, from documents and laptops to clothes and everything in between. A nice pen has a must have for a discerning gentleman and this one fits the bill very nicely. Jermyn Street is one my favourite shopping streets in the entire world and both Floris and Turnbull & Asser are stalwarts of this fabled location - who cannot love this scent?!
