Heading North | Belstaff
The Rake concludes Belstaff's arctic inspired collection for Autumn/Winter '16 from London Collections: Men.

Belstaff have to be praised for their ability to put an idea into context. From last seasons desert 'Lawrence of Arabia' theme, Belstaff takes us North of the globe for Autumn/Winter '16. Deep into snow filled through terrains, we are offered the perfect solution for protection against the elements. Belstaff have merged classic styles with new materials and functionalities keeping the range commercially driven.
Frederik Dyhr, the VP of Men's design explains that the collection was, 'inspired by the pioneers of endurance who threaded their bikes through some of the most inhospitable conditions for the sheer challenge of the journey'. This was evident upon walking into the space, sounds of howling winds filled the cavernous room while models stood by Triumph snow bikes, rocks depicting mountainous surfaces and faux snow.
The iconic waxed jackets have been down filled for the season, with Belstaff offering an Arctic down-filled all-in-one exploration suit in high performance nylon twill. With the option of detachable fur and shearling trims, the idea of the collection is to keep warm but to not over heat. Looks were styled with fleece hoodies and knits, as well as biker style leather trousers - a staple in Belstaff's aesthetic.
