London Collections Men SS17: MCM X Christopher Raeburn

The Rake's own Fashion Stylist proffers some pearls of wisdom on the MCM X Christopher Raeburn catwalk show.
London Collections Men SS17: MCM X Christopher Raeburn
Collaboration masters, MCM, collaborate with Christopher Raeburn for SS17. An interesting match for the brand after so many previous artist collaborations such as Craig and Karl.
A recent collaboration with razzle dazzle artist, Tobias Rehberger sees MCM take a strong focus on all things military and technical. The technical outerwear expert Raeburn, takes my favourite leather goods giant on a reconstructed camouflage journey. The collection features lightweight capes and trenches, with bungee cord drawstrings. A nod to the global nomad, Raeburn has created a collection for the modern traveller, featuring new fabrics like the Schoeller 4-way-stretch. Such a fabric is not only scratch resistant but also, water and dirt repellant and protects the wearer from UV rays.
Raeburn focuses on the brand's heritage, redesigning the iconic MCM Visetoa canvas and honouring birthplace Munich, interpreting the colours of the Bavarian flag.
We were taken through a 360 degree light show journey, representing various weather systems. It was hard not to see the full vision and purpose of the collection.
The classic MCM backpacks that everyone knows so well, have been redesigned to be more technical. Weekend bags with a multitude of zips and hazard colours accessorised and complemented practical, lightweight bomber jackets.
All round a great new collaboration, throwing MCM into a well deserved place among famed outerwear favourites such as Belstaff. A sophisticated change in comparison to the usually fun, tongue in cheek collections.
