Simon Says: Permanent Style Presents Pop-Up Shop
Simon Crompton, celebrated author, journalist and long-time friend of The Rake has launched a pop-up shop on Savile Row. One of the foremost authorities on classic menswear and the man behind popular online men’s style destination, Permanent Style, Crompton has carefully curated a selection of brands, ateliers and haberdasheries and brought them all together under one roof. Permanent Style Presents, which runs for two weeks, is a chance to discover, learn about, and invest in a number of brands, both established and new, many of which you simply can’t find in London. Baudoin & Lange — a collaborative partner of The Rake and makers of the finest Belgian-style slippers around -  is featuring, as is Luca Faloni, purveyor of exceptional cashmere knits, General Eyewear and cufflink and accessories house Codis Maya. One of the marquee contributors is Hong Kong and New York stalwarts The Armoury, their offer of apparel and accessories nicely complementing that of their brothers-in-arms at Drake’s, also showing. Fox Brothers, and their retail arm The Merchant Fox, will be offering a specially selected range of tailoring cloths for customers to choose from. Thankfully, you need not go far to have one cut. Completing the offer is scarf maestros Begg & Co., creators of the finest luxury hangers The Hanger Project and J. Girdwood, a mid-century inspired brand and the brainchild of James Girdwood, Permanent Style collaborator and former Drake’s man. In addition to the range of brands and products which will be present throughout the duration of the pop-up, there will also be a handful of trunk shows. Stefano Bemer, which has just landed on The Rake Shop, will be on showcasing their collection on Saturday 25th. Lavabre Cadet gloves, founded 1946, will be showing on Tuesday 28th and Wednesday 1st. Next weekend is a double-Neapolitan-header with bespoke shirtmaker Luca Avitabile and tailors Luigi Solito showcasing. Finally, tailors Sartoria Formosa, also from Napoli, complete the lineup with its UK debut, from Thursday March 9th to Saturday 11th. It’s a considered and smartly put-together selection that epitomises Permanent Style’s passion for detail, craftsmanship and timeless elegance. Permanent Style Presents will be open from until March 11th, from 10:00am to 6:00pm. Permanent Style Presents is at 34-35 Savile Row, Mayfair, London W1S 3QA.
