- Product Notes
Grown on the idyllic islands of Jamaica, Antigua and Barbados, Sea Island cotton is beloved of shirting buffs for its skin-soft feel, flexibility and obvious quality. Its relative rarity has given rise to similar fabrics, including Turnbull&Asser's West Indies Sea Island Quality Cotton shirts. This style is is cut for a regular fit. Turnbull&Asser's shirts are made in England at the brand's Gloucester factory. They only used the finest ethically-sourced yarns and textiles and the quality of their shirting is royal-standard. The mother-of-pearl buttons are thermally fused in order to prevent loosening through wear. This style includes branded collar stays for functionality and precision.

The Story
Turnbull & Asser's renown as one of the best shirtmakers in the world was affirmed in 1982, when Prince Charles issued the British company with a Royal Warrant, one of the first companies he granted with the esteemed title. But T&A's storied history begins much earlier, in 1885, when John Turnbull and Ernest Asser opened the first store in St James's in London, supplying gentleman who frequented the area with smart shirts. In 1903, the famed shirtmaker moved to Jermyn St, where it still resides today, selling a range of suits, knitwear, ties, outerwear and, of course, bespoke and ready-to-wear shirts, which are all made in Britain, to ensure quality remains of the highest standard. While heritage and knowledge of the craft have helped maintain the brand's reputation, inventiveness has seen T&A morph from a traditional shirtmaker into a boundary-pushing contemporary brand.
