The rake

the modern voice of classic elegance

Frank Clegg

A person who carries a Frank Clegg bag is a person who isn't preoccupied by names or logos, but one who knows and truly appreciates quality when they see it. Founder Frank, who turned his leather goods hobby into a business in 1970, set out to create bags designed to withstand generations of use: heirlooms to be passed down from one craft aficionado to the next. Each briefcase, duffle bag, tote and backpack has been made in the brand's Massachusetts workshop from French hide, which has been vegetable tanned to allow for a more natural patina to develop. The brand also uses custom-made hardware, which has been specifically designed to withstand the elements, as well as locks from Swiss company Amiet. The quality guarantee, however, is in the process - no bag leaves the workshop without going through the hands of either Frank or his sons, who are now integral members of the family business, to ensure each piece will stand the test of time.
