Our Commitment to Value: The Hanhart 417 & Belstaff Trialmaster USD 2,300 Bundle
I wanted to take a moment to discuss a topic that is very important to us at Revolution and The Rake. And that topic is value. We recognize that at this moment this is one of the most relevant and important topics. Because while we still want to offer you the type of limited edition watches and curated garments that make you dream, we also want to ensure that these objects represent the very best value propositions, meaning that they should significantly over deliver in terms of quality, performance and style relative to their price. The truth is that we have been focused on this for some time, and that our brand partners, as well, have been critical to our ability to bring you this commitment to value. For example, when we launched our Zenith x Revolution Chronomaster Revival Ref. A3818, in a 100-piece limited edition, with its famous ladder style bracelet we wanted to make sure that the price was in alignment with the regular production A386 on the same bracelet.

Zenith agreed with us that we should both reduce our margins to accomplish this. The same thing is true for our latest watch release the Hanhart x The Rake & Revolution Limited Edition Bronze 417 Chronograph, in 150 pieces, which we’ve created as a tribute to the original Hanhart 417 chronographs made in brass from 1956-1958. We’ve priced this watch at USD 1,900, which we hope from the perspective of a bronze case, domed sapphire crystal timepiece, with a manual wind Selita movement, on a Bund strap is a good value to you. In fact, this is the same price as the regular production version in steel that will be coming out later this year. But again, with the great people at Hanhart, we decided we should both reduce our margins so as to be able to maintain the same price as the regular production model for you. In some time to come time, you’ll see the launch of a Revolution & The Rake Bulgari Octo Finissimo Chronograph GMT in titanium, with a tachymeter on the bezel and a fully luminous dial, made in a micro edition of 20 watches. Again, we wanted to keep the price approximately the same as the regular production watch here. On top of that both Bulgari and we are committed to donating a portion of our profit from the sale of the watch to a Covid-19 related charity.

The reason we’ve fought hard to bring you value is first, this is essential to who we are and because we want to thank each and every one of our readers and customers, by trying to give them the very best values in watchmaking. Some of the watches we launch might be more accessible in price and others might be costlier, but in either case we always try to outperform the market, relative to the genre of that timepiece. Second, we are very much aware of what 2020 has been like for everyone. We’ve been there with you through the emotional ups and downs, the major re-adjustments we’ve had to make in our professional and personal lives. We understand that everyone’s been financially affected and that everyone’s priorities are now much more focused. We are truly grateful that our audience continues to support us on our e-shop by purchasing our watches and garments, and we are going to double up on our efforts to thank you for this, by bringing you value.

Regarding the launch of the Hanhart 417 we’ve decided to pair it with our favorite British heritage waxed cotton motorcycle jacket. We’ve chosen a black Belstaff Trialmaster because we feel from a quality and style perspective it is unparalleled. Note that it has brass hardware all around including the buckles at the belt and throat latch, where some other brands use plastic. Also, the faded vintage black of the Belstaff jacket, completed by a its brass snaps and zipper perfectly complements the color of the quick patina bronze watch on its black Bund strap. We decided to pair the jacket and the watch together in homage to how Steve McQueen showed up with the “California Boys” to represent the US at the 1964 ISDT, the International Six Day Trials, which was at the time one of the most prestigious off-road motorcycle competitions in the world.

McQueen showed up with three critical pieces of equipment: his Triumph TR6C “Desert Sled’ motorcycle, his waxed cotton jacket (it is believed this could be a Barbour but he wore both this and a Belstaff regularly while riding) and, of course, his Hanhart 417 military pilots watch on a Bund strap. The watch is priced at USD 1,900, measures 42mm in diameter like the original and will be made in just 150 examples. The Belstaff Trialmaster is priced at USD 590. However, if you choose to purchase them together we are pleased to extend them to you at USD 2,300 — a saving of USD 190, and an example of our enduring commitment to offering you the best values in the online world. Because we believe our readers and clients rock and we want to always accord them our respect and gratitude
