Wedding Tails : Photography
If there is one thing that my wife-to-be and I can agree on, it is that we are not, in anyway shape or form, photogenic. Any image of us is never posed, that doesn’t seem to work. I conjure up my inner Chandler Bing and do that awkward smile and she looks like someone different entirely. So when it comes to the item of pictures, the photographer has to be two things, very good and very well briefed.
The photographer we have chosen is Joshua Lawrence, a highly accomplished and reputable photographer with bylines in leading men’s and women’s magazines. He recently was the photographer for The Woolmark Company’ Ambassadors Project. The point is that he is hyper-impressive and a safe pair of hands for a sceptical “adorable couple”, who are after some framers and memories.
Men aren’t naturally trigger-happy with cameras. The subject however is very important when planning the wedding and you leave it as an afterthought at your peril. The sundry wedding blogs for bride’s will make the justification for the undeniably expensive aspect of the wedding on the grounds that it is you looking your best on the day and this needs to be a cherished vision of you before you fade back into normalcy. But surely, the photographer is dispensable? After all, the people who you’d actually think to show these images to will be there on the day so will see you, right? No.
In fact, the photographer is not just taking pictures of you, he or she is taking nice pictures of everybody else there. If there is anything that has been made clear to me from already married friends, it is that nothing in the world feels as good as seeing your best friends and closest family having a wonderful time, and on the day, you are so stressed and tired, the window to enjoy this view is incredibly limited. It will bring immense joy to take the time to look back on the faces later on. For this, you will need a good photographer, and for once in the wedding, it has nothing to do with you.
