New & Lingwood x Fratelli Piacenza x The Rake Vicuña Gown$ 21,930
- Product Notes
This unique piece of loungewear has been constructed entirely from vicuña, the world’s softest and most expensive yarn, in turn making this the world’s most expensive dressing gown. The gown has been designed with minimal detailing - three patch pockets with black piping and a fringed tie-belt – simply to let the lustrous, softly-draping cloth speak for itself, rightfully known in South America as the ‘fleece of the Gods’.

Having worked together for many years, the quintessential English gentlemen’s outfitter New & Lingwood has paired up once again with Italian mill Fratelli Piacenza to create this one-of-a-kind dressing gown, exclusive to The Rake. Historically revered (during the Incas empire, the precious threads could only be worn by emperors), vicuna is a notoriously difficult fibre to work with and even more challenging to source, shorn from rare-breed Andean camelids who make their home on mountain plateaus often thousands of metres above sea level.
To celebrate this unique and extravagant gown, The Rake teamed up with UK-based filmmaker Martin Senyszak and model/musician Sam Way to create a short film which brings to life the nuances of this incredible cloth, highlighting the softness and tactility of the fibre more expensive than gold.
