The Rake’s 100th issue is both a fond retrospective as well as an establishing statement looking ahead at the next 100 issues. With a grand statesman of Hollywood like John Lithgow on the cover, the issue sets its stall as a magazine that has always and shall always celebrate elegance, talent and positive values. Inside we do this with our Rake 100 list, the 100 most influential men and women in the luxury industry, who may yet show their wings in full flight, and we shall be watching when they do. On the retrospective side we honour the influences behind the magazine with features on the Jet-Set, and brands like Loro Piana celebrating their centenary and continue to fight for expressions of quality and perfection in all their garments. From interviews with Ryan Gosling, profiles on legendary car designers, hotels and fashion shoots, this issue is a valentine to the industry we have been lucky enough to cover for 100 issues now, and crucially, the people in it.
