Texture, Tonalty and Contemporary: The Purdey British Summer Edit

Purdey is drawing inspiration from its sporting roots and the subtle colors of the British countryside for its Spring/Summer 2024 menswear collection. Founded in London in 1814, Purdey has long defined a distinct British style that bridges town and country living. The new collection perfectly captures this duality, offering sophisticated yet highly functional outerwear, refined tailoring, and beautiful knitwear pieces. The color palette takes cues from lush greens, deep browns, and earthy neutrals like stone, flint, and birch found in nature. Textural fabrics like Scottish-milled cashmere and heritage wool create tonal, layered looks with a modern feel.

Outerwear is a highlight, showcasing Purdey's expertise in the category. Multi-functional field jackets and fishtail parkas nod to British military heritage, while voluminous capes and double-breasted overcoats provide a more tailored aesthetic. Innovative fabrics include water-repellent cotton, waxed linen, double-faced cashmere, and jersey-backed wool.

The Field Jacket, a brand staple, gets re-engineered in a distinctive waxed cotton and linen blend for a softer hand and seasonal lightness. The Tailored Field Jacket hybridises a traditional field jacket with a tailored blazer in a linen-cotton jersey herringbone. The Range Coat combines the ruggedness of waxed outerwear with a more luxurious, tailored silhouette in waterproof waxed cotton linen.

For a city-inspired look, Purdey offers a range of camel-hued pieces in materials like camel hair, cashmere, merino wool and herringbone cloths across outerwear, knitwear and tailoring. The Town And Country Double Face Coat provides a dressier option with its double-breasted front and peak lapels in a luxurious double-faced fabric.

Knitwear forms the core of the spring layering pieces, with soft, fine-gauge styles alongside chunkier heritage knits. The sleeveless Tank Knit features an exaggerated Aran stitch pattern for a laid-back yet refined look. The Rosehall Estate Jumper pays homage to the Duke of Windsor in a classic Scottish cashmere crewneck knit in Scotland.

By combining its respected heritage with a modern perspective, Purdey delivers a Spring/Summer 2024 menswear collection that seamlessly transitions from the British countryside to city streets.
