Black Friday Staff Picks
Here at The Rake, we love value propositions. It warms our collective hearts when we discover new brands or even old ones for that matter, who put quality, craftsmanship, authenticity and provenance of materials high up on their list of priorities, altitudes above over-hyped marketing. The simple fact is many of the brands we present to you have existed on word-of-mouth recommendations for decades, which is partly why they often feel like a best-kept secret when you first discover them. For Black Friday and the 'Cyber Weekend' for want of a better phrase, we're offering an even better value proposition for you, with up to 50% off in some cases. Established brands such as Rubinacci, Edward Sexton, Anderson & Sheppard along with newcomers like Doppiaa are an absolute steal at these prices so fill your collective boots and wardrobes while these offers are live. Or if you're the well-organised type and want to get Christmas gifting all wrapped up before the curtain calls on November, there are a wealth of amazing deals. With over 2000+ products discounted, we asked our editors to curate their favourite pieces from the Black Friday sale, from statement outerwear to corduroy suiting via must-have sartorial accessories.

Wei Koh, Founder of The Rake If you know about Rubinacci’s Manny trousers, then you know. If you don’t, you need to. My great friend Luca Rubinacci has designed the ultimate smart-casual trouser based on the style once worn by Nepalese soldiers. They're incredibly versatile and very easy to dress up or down depending on your choice of blazer or footwear.  Given black tie season is well underway, I've also gone for Chester Barrie's evening suit - easily one of the chicest I’ve come across this season. Patents, black Oxfords or velvet slippers are the perfect bookends. Finally, something for the office: power dressing starts with a shirt - to be precise, this shirt by Cordone 1956. It reminds me of the bad-assitude style Michael Douglas's character, Gordon Gecko wore in the first Wall Street film.

Ryan Thompson, Digital Editor Cut in a Perfecto style, Stewart's shearling-lined jacket is about as masculine as it gets, especially when paired with jeans, rugged boots and a simple white tee. Speaking of rugged boots, these stompers by Italian brand Barbanera are an excellent twisted take on the classic Chelsea boot. Sex, drugs and rock'n'roll for your feet (note: sex, drugs and rock'n'roll sold separately, and not by us, unfortunately). One can never have enough jackets when the winter rolls in and I've had my eye on Rubinacci's Ulster coat for quite some time. I just love the boiled texture of Casentino wool - in turns a classic navy jacket into something really tactile and eye-catching.

Benedict Browne, Associate Style Editor Everyone needs a go-to casual suit as it’s the perfect way to bridge both sides of the formality spectrum, and this one by Doppiaa, which we launched this season, is amazing value for money, even at full price. With Christmas on the horizon, and knowing my father is in the market for a belt, this Adriano Meneghetti model fits the bill - and his waist - nicely.  Perfectly proportioned, the engraving is a nice point of interest and it adds another dimension to tailored trousers. Plus, I'll steal it whenever I can. Finally, NYC brand Wheelers V caters to the modern man who’s on the move and requires comfortable casualwear with a sporting aesthetic. Minimal aesthetic, maximum comfort.

Aobh O'Brien-Moody, Editorial Assistant Dressed up or down, this luxurious merino crew neck from Sunspel is guaranteed to become a winter staple. The British heritage brand is renowned for its quality yarns so you won't be disappointed, and at this price, it's a steal. Add a necessary pop of colour with Anderson & Sheppard's indispensable red and green tartan cashmere scarf. Lastly, you can’t go wrong with Ray-Ban, and this modern take on a classic model is perfect for low-lying winter sun or that Christmas getaway.
