British Outfitting: Purdey Unveil Their Autumn/Winter 2024 Lifestyle Collection
Drawing from its 210-year legacy, Purdey presents a collection rooted in countryside living with Donegal knits, technical outerwear, and heritage-inspired details.

The Purdey journey in clothing began in the 70s with the opening of its first store on Mount Street in Mayfair, Audley House, which has been the brand's headquarters since 1882. The boutique reflected the same dedication to quality, practicality, and attention to detail that defined Purdey firearms, laying the foundation for the brand’s lifestyle collections. That heritage remains central to their latest offering — the Autumn/Winter 2024 Lifestyle collection, grounded in British tradition and made for those who thrive in the outdoors but expect style and versatility in every piece.

Outerwear is a pillar of every Purdey collection, and for Autumn/Winter 2024, the range includes an expansion of classic field styles as well as coats, jackets, and capes. These pieces are built to transition seamlessly from country walks to city streets. The Winchester Quilted Jacket, in walnut-coloured technical cotton, features lightweight HD Wool wadding to regulate body temperature, making it perfect for unpredictable weather. With corduroy details, tweed accents at the back, and the Purdey signature snap fastenings, it’s an ideal layering piece. The corresponding Cambridge Quilted Gilet, also in walnut, is crafted from sustainably sourced wool, offering essential warmth in a versatile silhouette.
The Kenwood Coat and Lancaster Range Coat draw inspiration from the brand’s classic Field Coat. The Kenwood, in a subtle shepherd’s check houndstooth, includes a quilted lining for warmth without bulk. The Lancaster is made from storm-blue wool woven in England and features a detachable technical cotton-mix lining for breathable versatility. Both coats have roomy, practical pockets, designed with usability in mind.
New for this season, the Raglan Field Coat is crafted from tweed inspired by the freshwater Morar Loch in the Scottish Highlands. The coat’s herringbone design, accented by an autumnal overcheck, is paired with a Sympatex membrane liner, providing windproof protection and warmth. This makes the Raglan Field Coat an enduring and functional option for the season, perfect for pairing with this season’s knitwear.

The Autumn/Winter 2024 collection also introduces a range of British knitwear, inspired by traditional cable knit designs. The iconic garment has deep roots, originally knitted by women to keep fishermen warm in cold coastal climates. The latest offerings continue this tradition while incorporating luxurious textures.
The men’s Donegal Aran Jumper, Full Zip Cardigan, St Ives Fisherman Rib Jumper, and Hertford Herringbone Crew Neck Jumper all feature intricate 3D textures. This is the first time Purdey has sourced yarn from the original Donegal Mill in Kilcar, Ireland, a mill known for its tradition of spinning, weaving, and knitting since the 1800s. Once spun, the yarn is sent to Scotland, where skilled artisans transform it into knitwear that draws inspiration from classic British cloth, such as herringbone. This attention to heritage is especially evident in the Kirk Fair Isle Crew Neck Jumper.
Lighter options, such as the Travel Merino Crew Neck Jumper and Polo Shirt, are designed for versatility, combining super lightweight cotton-cashmere and merino blends for ease of movement, breathability, and effortless layering with other pieces.

Every detail in the Autumn/Winter 2024 collection is thoughtfully considered. The JP monogram, developed from an evening slipper found in the depths of the archive at Audley House and now serving as an homage to James Purdey, the brand’s founder, appears across the collection, from merino knits to shirts. Notable details include carved buttons featuring the Purdey Rose & Scroll motif, as well as snap fastenings with the brand’s signature chequering.
Accessories complete the collection, with new items like merino wool baseball caps, ribbed wool and cashmere-blend socks, and classic check scarves made in the UK. These accessories come in a colour palette that ranges from soft sage to chocolate to midnight blue, offering a cohesive look alongside the outerwear and knitwear.

While Autumn/Winter 2024 highlights the luxury house commitment to craftsmanship and British tradition, the brand is looking to the future with the exciting addition of Giles Deacon as Creative Director. His first collection, set to debut in Spring/Summer 2025, promises to bring a fresh creative perspective while remaining true to the brand’s heritage.
