James Purdey & Sons Welcome Designer Giles Deacon for Creative Collaboration

The partnership represents a meeting of two creative forces in British craftsmanship, with Deacon sharing an intuitive understanding of the Purdey heritage.

The field sports and country clothing brand was founded in 1814 by James Purdey and has since become a world leader. Its first clothing and accessories boutique opened in London's Mayfair in the 1970s, reflecting the same eye for detail, quality, and practicality that Purdey has always been known for, and setting the bar for what was to come.

Today, the house's seasonal collections represent all that is quintessentially Purdey – beautifully made pieces, grounded in British tradition, driven by innovation, and made by and for those who love the great outdoors. A formula that aligns seamlessly with the creative ethos of Giles Deacon, who will continue to uphold the classic Purdey style.

Deacon's work has long been defined by impeccable detail and an artisanal level of workmanship. His pieces are worn and collected the world over, with examples in the permanent collections of the V&A Museum in London and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Testament to this, he has previously received the British Designer of the Year Award.

Deacon's 30 years of experience in the industry perfectly complements what Purdey does. Both value and support quality craftsmanship, uphold and celebrate these skills, and honour design that is able to evolve while staying true to its roots.
