Christmas Drinks with The Rake and New & Lingwood

New & Lingwood is nothing less than a sartorial British institution, a bastion of old-school English tailored eccentricity and verve. Whether an indulgent baby alpaca Polo coat, raspberry velvet three-piece suit, the most inventive tartan trews you could possibly imagine, skull and cross-bones jacquard neckties which reference the house's historical roots to Eton College (why this connection is represented by a skull and cross-bones one simply should not ask) or even the iconic New & Lingwood 'military eight' double breasted suit - the house has always gone against the beige, uninspired grain to produce a wealth of exuberant menswear designs that are nothing if not rakish. One staple of the house though, stands head and shoulders above the rest; the English-woven, handmade silk jacquard dressing gown. The house has produced them for years and they are, if anything, as rakish as a gown can be - heroic visions of intricately designed colour and pattern that ennoble and dandify even the most dreary of individuals effortlessly. What is more, a little later this month, The Rake will be releasing a highly limited three-piece capsule collection of New & Lingwood gowns, made-up in contemporary, monochromatic jacquards that are entirely exclusive to Shop.TheRake.com (see a sneak preview below). This momentous occasion of course warrants a celebration and given that it's the festive season, The Rake thought that this would be an opportune moment to partner with the house both to display the new collection and to host some Christmas drinks for our readers. On the 1st of December, New & Lingwood's wonderfully quirky Jermyn Street store will be open late from 6pm, and will host a special display of our exclusive gown collection, which will be available to try on and purchase on the evening, as will New & Lingwood's mainline collection (with a 20% discount as a little festive incentive). Champagne and cocktails will naturally be present in abundance and team-Rake will be out in force offering style advice, sparking small-talk and shall most certainly not attempt to drink the bar dry.
