Pommella Napoli: the Latest Jewel in Naples' Crown

Pommella Napoli is rapidly making a name for itself as a purveyor of top quality, classically tailored trousers and shorts, crafted in the Neapolitan tradition from the finest fabrics.

Finding a good pair of trousers is no easy feat. Nailing the holy grail of cut, sizing and style is such an endeavour that when you eventually find the pair of your dreams, you’ll never want to wear anything else. At least that is the case with Pommella Napoli, a brand whose slacks you are guaranteed to want - nay, need - to stock up on, such is its commitment to crafting top quality, well-fitting and utterly wearable trousers.

Established only two years ago, the brand is the brainchild of film director Gianluca Migliarotti - a devotee of classic men’s style with a particular passion for bespoke tailoring - and Naples-born Lino Pommella, an artisan for whom tailoring runs in the blood. At age 13, Pommella began learning the craft of trouser-making from his father, a local tailor who specialised in traditional techniques. He then went on to work for a decade as head trouser cutter for the esteemed Neapolitan tailoring empire that is Rubinacci, where he built up the expertise and confidence required to jump ship and launch his eponymous label.

Despite the relative youth of Pommella Napoli compared to many of its well-established Neapolitan tailoring counterparts, the brand has already garnered itself a reputation for producing some of menswear’s finest trousers. Bolstered by over 50 years of experience in the production of bespoke garments, there’s a clear respect for construction and detailing, each pair crafted to perfection according to classic Neapolitan style. Pommella’s ready-to-wear garments are tailored to the same standard as its bespoke pairs, with signature features including a slim cut, a slightly tapered leg, clean pleats and handmade details such as hand-sewn buttonholes and bar tacks. Luxurious, supremely comfortable fabrics from Europe’s finest mills including Fox Brothers, Vitale Barberis Canonico, Loro Piana and Drapers are used, with Thomas Mason cloth as lining.

For summer, the label has extended its tailoring expertise to encompass smart shorts perfect for hot days spent in the city or at the beach. Striped cotton seersucker in blue, white and red make for versatile warm weather dressing: pair with a soft cotton t-shirt and leather sneakers for a casual effect or collared shirt and loafers for more formal affairs.

Ultimately, what makes Pommella so covetable is that its trousers hit that sweet spot between luxury and wearability. Epitomising timeless elegance and understated sophistication, these are pieces that you’ll want to wear time and again. And with such careful attention to detail and high quality construction, you can do just that.
